STEVE 2ND!!!!!!!!!

The morning Road Championships faced an `out & back` 57k course towards Windellama Village & return. The course is by no means hilly, but throw in a stiff freezing crosswind and the damage was done.

Stephen Brown got in the move when it mattered to take a great Silver. The Criteriums were held for the first time at the Marulan Driver Training Centre (all feedback on the new course was favourable). In M4 - Stephen was 8th.

MONT 24hr Race

The 2011 Mont 24hr has been run and won again for this year. In what turned to be a very dusty and then very wet race here is brief account from Matt

This year Supreme Cycles fielded a 6 team made up of mostly experienced 24hr racers Brett, James, Jason, Matt (Supreme Cycles) & Rupert. But this year we had a new man to break in! (Supreme Cycles owner Steve!).
This was Steve's 2nd MTB race ever! Steve had a blast and was 3rd fastest in the team, Steve's bike handling skills from track riding and road riding saw him have fun in the dirt.

On Friday Brett & Matt grabbed a prime camp site with some help (Thanks to another Stephen).

Race morning Matt stupidly said he would do the Le Mans start run, (Matt hates running). During the race the team hovered in 6th place in mens 6 man open division, it would be early the next morning the team would strike around 3.30am they moved into 5th, around 9am the team moved up again into 4th but a lap down on 1st, 2nd & 3rd. It would be on the last 2 laps that the team jumped on to the same laps as 3rd place to end up 4th in mens 6 man open and 16th place overall out of the 591 teams involved.

In the under 18's Shop staffers Sam & Jasper raced in 6 man under 18s divison. For Jasper this was his first XC race let along first 24hr! Sam & Jasper's team finished 3rd a great result.

Many other Supreme Cycles Customers/friends raced congrats to all who competed. We would love to hear your results so shoot us an email so we can post them up!!

 All New Scott Foil-

Scott FOIL

Scott's previously team-only Project F01 aero road bike finally has a name – the Foil (F01L)

The Foil weighs just a few grams more than Scott's flagship Addict road bike and includes some of that bike's best features. But lessons learned from the Plasma 3 time trial machine have resulted in a claimed 20 percent reduction in drag compared to the Addict. All the tubes are partial aerofoil shaped (ie. without the trailing edge) at a 3:2 ratio – well within the UCI's 3:1 rule – with particular attention being paid to the tapered head tube, fork and bottom bracket area to ensure that air flows smoothly along the length of the bike. The seatstays are widened and shaped to hide the rear brake.

Scott's wind tunnel data suggests an average rider putting out 290 watts will achieve an extra 0.7kph on this bike (an increase from 39.3kph to 40kph). That's a saving of 1.6 seconds per kilometre, or 15 watts.

Aerodynamic performance hasn't been achieved at the expense of other areas, though. Scott say the Foil is actually stiffer laterally than the Addict, resulting in improved power transfer, while retaining enough vertical compliance to remain comfortable.

Made of Scott's HMX NET carbon fibre, claimed weight for the frame is just 840g (medium), with the frameset (frame, fork, seatpost and clamp) coming in at 1,227g – five percent heavier than the Addict. Four complete bikes will become available (No word yet on what Aust will get).
