Mike Thorman Reviews the Scott Scale 29er Pro

It’s not often that you get to ride a bike that you cannot find fault with. I’m not talking about big faults, but ANY fault.

The 2012 Scott Scale 29er Pro is one of those bikes. It fits like a glove and goes exactly where you point it, descending with sure-footed ease that inspires confidence, and when the rutted climbs appear, you know the bike will get you to the top with the minimum of fuss.

I rode one of these bikes recently in the 100km 2012 Karri Cup in Northcliffe. It was a hot day (35o) and very dusty, but the bike didn’t seem to mind - it never put a foot wrong all day. The only time things went a little pear-shaped was at the bottom of a long, high-speed steep descent. Following other riders (in their dust) I thought the track went left, but actually it went right. But you can hardly blame a case of “brain fade” on the bike!

At the end of the race, the bike was riding as sweet as when it came out of the box. Brakes were as efficient as always, and the shifters were working as crisp as you could want.

If you’re after a 29er (they ride SO well), then throw your leg over one of these beauties. I think you’ll be impressed.
